Bora Dar, Iām the mad Welsh man Wayne, on Euphonium.
I started playing in Flint Silver Prize Band, North Wales when I was 11 on baritone. Moving to Euphonium when I was 14. In Wales I played for a handful of bands, Flint, Holywell, school and Rhyl orchestra. Sometimes I played the trombone and sometimes on percussion. The Euphonium always called be back, it is by far my preferred instrument.
After leaving school and joining the British army I took a 35-year break from playing. Moving to beautiful New Zealand in 2013 I started my Brass Banding again in Auckland. Playing with Kumeu, Northshore Academy, RNZ Air Force Band and Auckland City.
After moving to Christchurch, I have enjoyed playing with Sumner whenever I could.
I have recently been given the opportunity to play principal Euphonium which I am enjoying very much.
I also play in New Brighton Silver Band. I feel that I cannot play too much or too loud. Although the conductors always seem to have a difference opinion.??
