Anzac Day 2026
🌺 ANZAC Day 2026 – Sumner RSA 🌺 The Sumner Silver Band was honoured to once again support our local ANZAC Day service, joining a large and respectful crowd on a beautifully clear autumn morning.
Our pre‑service programme featured reflective and heartfelt music including Aces High, Elizabeth Remembered, and Amazing Grace with Abide With Me. Elizabeth Remembered — composed by Debbie Wiseman OBE in 2022 to honour Queen Elizabeth II and arranged for brass band by Andrew Wainwright and Glenn Greet — was a particularly moving moment. We also performed Hine e Hine, Band of Brothers, and First Light, delivered in an exceptional performance by Robyn Porter.
A great turnout to hour our veterans, Sumner 2026.
We were delighted to be joined by guest bagpiper Greg, whose playing added a powerful and emotional dimension to Amazing Grace, Abide With Me, and Highland Cathedral. The service also included a parade led by a local pipe band, a wreath‑laying ceremony, and Last Post and Rouse, performed by Chris.

A special thank‑you to soprano vocalist Lizzie Drury, who led Abide With Me (Eventide) and the national anthems with grace and clarity. Community speakers shared thoughtful reflections on the meaning of ANZAC Day and the importance of remembrance.

After the service, we enjoyed performing a lighter programme for the community, including 1914, Cherry Pink, Invercargill — conducted by our wonderful 7‑year‑old guest conductor Lydia van Uden — and Now Is the Hour. We closed the morning with a well‑received performance of Highland Cathedral.
