Christmas Soirée Concert 2025

Our Christmas Soirée concert was a wonderful way to bring the Sumner Silver Band together to celebrate the end of the year, showcasing not only our music but the strong sense of community that sits at the heart of the band.

The programme reflected the wide range of players within the band, featuring a mix of festive Christmas favourites alongside non-Christmas pieces that highlighted the variety of styles and abilities across the ensemble. This relaxed and inclusive format allowed everyone to contribute, regardless of experience, and created an enjoyable concert for both performers and guests.

The evening was made even more special with shared food, giving members, families, and friends the chance to connect socially as well as musically. The band was particularly lucky to hear a special guest perfromance by CPBBA Open Section Champion 2025, Simon Winship, accompanied beautifully by the mighty talented Frankie Daley. A surprise vocalist concluded our evening, our very own Brendan Lancaster (and former member, father Darrel) whose contributions added extra colour and variety to the programme and reinforced the collaborative spirit of the night.

A highlight of the soirée was the presentation of band awards, celebrating both musical achievement and the personal qualities that make the band such a supportive and enjoyable group to be part of. Congratulations to all recipients of the awards

In true Sumner Silver Band style, the evening also included a selection of fun awards, with laughs shared over honours such as Curiosity Champion, Band Archivist, Small but Mighty, and Best Supporter, reminding us that contribution to the band comes in many forms, both on and off the stand.

The Christmas Soirée was a fitting end to a busy year of rehearsals and performances. An evening that celebrated music, friendships and the community spirit that continues to make the Sumner Silver Band such a special organisation.
