St Augustine’s, Cashmere Dec 2025

Sumner Silver Band had the joy of joining St Augustine’s, Cashmere this morning for their 10am combined service.

We opened the service with a reflective rendition of Coventry Carol, setting the tone for the beginning of Advent. The congregation then joined us in singing Cross of Jesus, Calypso Carol and Immortal, Invisible.

A special moment in the service included a beautiful, unplanned performance of Amazing Grace by our wonderful cornet player Andrew and our multi-talented Bb Bass player Loki on organ.

We closed the service with Christmas Crackers to celebrate the start of the festive season for us as a band, and surprised the congregation by moving into the pews to play Now Is the Hour.

As Advent begins, we’re reminded to pause amid the business of the season and reflect on the Hope, Peace, Love and Joy that comes with this season. Thank you, St Augustine’s, for welcoming us so warmly and for allowing us to be part of your Advent journey.
